چکیده

Predictions of elliptic flow (v2) and nuclear modification factor (RAA) are provided as a function of centrality in U + U collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV. Since the U nucleus is naturally deformed, one could adjust the properties of the fireball, density and duration of the hot and dense system, for example, in high energy nuclear collisions by carefully selecting the colliding geometry. Within our Monte Carlo Glauber based approach, the v2 with respect to the reaction plane v RP 2 in U + U collisions is consistent with that in Au + Au collisions, while the v2 with respect to the participant plane v PP 2 increases ∼3060% at top 10% centrality which is attributed to the larger participant eccentricity at most central U + U collisions. The suppression of RAA increases and reaches ∼0.1 at most central U + U collisions that is by a factor of 2 more suppression compared to the central Au + Au collisions due to large size and deformation of Uranium nucleus.

2 00 5 Nuclear modification and elliptic flow measurements for φ mesons at √ s NN = 200 GeV d + Au and Au + Au collisions by PHENIX

We report the first results of the nuclear modification factors and elliptic flow of the φ mesons measured by the PHENIX experiment at RHIC in high luminosity Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV. The nuclear modification factors RAA and RCP of the φ follow the same trend of suppression as π’s in Au+Au collisions. In d+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV, the φ mesons are not suppressed. The ellipt...

Resonance Production in RHIC Collisions

Results of resonance particle production measured at RHIC in √ s NN = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions are compared to measurements in p+p and d+Au collisions in order to verify the existence of an extended hardron-ically interacting medium. Yield and momentum distributions of resonances maybe modified during the fireball lifetime due to resonance decay and the subsequent rescattering of their decay da...

Heavy quark transport in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC within the UrQMD transport model

Abstract We have implemented a Langevin approach for the transport of heavy quarks in the UrQMD hybrid model. The UrQMD hybrid approach provides a realistic description of the background medium for the evolution of relativistic heavy ion collisions. We have used two different sets of drag and diffusion coefficients, one based on a T -Matrix approach and one based on a resonance model for the el...

Azimuthal anisotropy of φ meson in U+U and Au+Au collisions at RHIC

The measurements of the azimuthal anisotropy of φ meson in the U+U and Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) are reported. The centrality dependence of the Fourier coefficients v2, v3, v4 and v5 is presented for φ meson at midrapidity (|η| ≤ 1.0), in U+U and Au+Au collisions at sNN = 193 and 200 GeV, respectively. The η-sub event plane method is used with a η gap of 0.1...

O ct 2 00 5 PHENIX Results on Open Heavy Flavor Production and Flow in Au + Au Collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV

The paper presents recent PHENIX results for the nuclear modification factor R AA in Au + Au Collisions at √ s N N = 200 GeV for the electrons originating from semi-leptonic decays of open heavy flavor carrying particles. We also report the results of the azimuthal asymmetry (v 2) measurement for those electrons, which is directly related to the heavy quark elliptic flow.
